What does getting a
CEREC involve?
Most dental restorative methods for tooth
protection require more than one visit. This means that on the first visit say
for a conventional crown, you get an injection of anesthesia, your tooth is
prepared, and an impression is taken that is sent to a laboratory. Then a
temporary restoration is put on your tooth. Usually several weeks later at your
second appointment, you get another injection, have the temporary removed (if
it hasn't fallen off already), and have the permanent restoration cemented
on.
Why go to the dentist a second time
when you do not have to? With CEREC, the procedure is done in a single visit;
start to finish in about two hours. In our office, you receive a complimentary
massage while you are waiting for the restoration to be made or you may get a
refreshment at our coffee and snack station, or watch cable TV or a movie in
the comfort of your own room.
The CEREC tooth restoration is not just
convenient, it is also healthy for the tooth. Many years ago, dentists had few
options to repair decayed, fractured and damaged teeth. We used silver filling,
gold and other metals. With CEREC, Drs. Roberts can use strong, tooth colored
ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty and
function. These materials closely match the composition of natural tooth
structure. The CEREC is cement-bonded to your tooth so Drs. Roberts can save as
much healthy natural tooth tissue as possible while providing you with a dental
restoration that is long lasting and actually strengthens your tooth.
