Diode Laser
Compared to conventional dental surgery,
treatment with the SIROlaser offers the following advantages: less invasive,
minimum cell destruction, less bleeding, better coagulation, negligible
post-operative edema (swelling). Many laser procedures can be done with
minimal or no anesthetic.
Indications for Later
Treatment:
Laser therapy is used often times in
conjunction with scaling and root planning (deep cleaning) to remove diseased
or inflamed tissue from the periodontal pocket. Use of the laser has been
clinically shown to reduce bleeding and pocket depth by improving attachment
and decreasing mobility in the tooth or teeth.
Laser surgery can be used in place of
scalpel for gingival recontouring, frenectomy, biopsy and removal of fibromas
and other soft tissue lesions. Most times there are no sutures needed
after laser surgery. The laser can also be used to treat apthous ulcer
(cold sores) resulting in less discomfort and shorter duration.
